The 2015 Sandy Lane Gold Cup has been won.
A short while ago, Barbadian jockey Rico Walcott claimed the coveted race aboard Sayler’s Creek in the 34th running of the prestigious horse race at the historic Garrison Savannah.
Asked immediately afterwards how he felt about his first Gold Cup win, a shocked Walcott told reporters, “I still ain’t get the feeling yet.”
Second place went to Daunting David and Knight Rider was third ahead of Gentleman’s Kitten, which had star jockey Patrick Husbands aboard.
A large crowd of Barbadians and visitors witnessed the spectacle.
The winning horse was one of two overseas entrants – the other Gentleman’s Kitten. Both owned by Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey, also the owners of last year’s winner Major Marvel.
