Residents of Syndicate Road and Richard’s Land, Bush Hall, St Michael, are calling on Government to assist them in debushing areas in these two districts.
Following a report from a concerned resident who claimed that several members of the two communities had fallen ill with Chikungunya and dengue-like symptoms, a team from Barbados TODAY was despatched to the area to investigate the report.
In the Syndicate Road area, the sidewalk of a narrow concrete road is now overgrown with bush.
A young mother of a four-year-old boy told Barbados TODAY she had fallen ill with dengue fever on two occasions, while her son was now recovering from the disease.
She said in the past, workers from the Warrens Polyclinic had been dispatched to debush the area, adding that recently there had been no such activity.
