Yet another Barbadian has lost his life in a fall from the fifth floor of the City Centre Mall multi-storey parking garage on Chapel Street, the City. Just before 10: a.m. today Kirk Brenan Edwards, 40, of 2nd Avenue, West Terrace, St James, fell to his death a mere eight feet in front of a wayside vendor.
Police public relations officer, Inspector David Welch, told members of Press that the vendor went to Central Police Station to assist in the investigations.
There are unconfirmed reports that prior to his death, Edwards was employed as a security guard.
With photos of the bloodied body lying in the streets making the rounds within minutes of the incident, Welch once again appealed to owners of smartphones phones to desist from the practice of posting tragic events on social media sites.
Edwards was wearing a blue T-shirt, blue pants and black shoes at the time of his death. By 12:10 p.m. when personnel from Two Sons Funeral Home arrived to remove the body from the street, a large crowd had assembled at the scene, but no member of the dead man’s family had turned up to identify the body.
Personnel from the Royal Barbados Police Force Community Relations Department under the command of Station Sergeant Stephen Griffith, were on hand to assist persons directly impacted by the tragedy.
When a team from Barbados TODAY visited Edwards’ home today, they were told that the family was too distraught to meet with the press. On September 15 last year, 24 year old Angel Nicholls of Storey Gap, Green Hill, St. Michael, jumped to her death from the fifth floor of the parking garage.
