Prime Minister Freundel Stuart is holding a face-to-face meeting today with key representatives of the business sector on the worrying economic situation in the country.
This, as Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler meets with members of the trade union movement to take forward their discussions on plans to lay off more than 3,000 public sector workers by the end of March.
While promising that Government is doing all in its power to ensure minimum dislocation within families, Mr Sinckler said the final announcement on who will actually go home would be made by the prime minister.
In the meantime, the finance minister is reporting that the Four Seasons project remains on stream and that Cabinet will make a decision in short order.
“Cabinet has made a tentative selection on the new preferred investors but we have broadened the scope. There are two shortlisted…Cabinet has asked for both [investors] to revise their proposals and come back…,” the finance minister said.
