Hastings Rock was the place to be yesterday for persons with ideas on making Barbados green, those who wanted to know what companies are doing, and how they can help in the push for a more environmentally friendly lifestyle turned up in the dozens.
The Future Centre Trust held its first Green Revolution Sustainable Solutions Fair and some of Barbados’ leading corporations, small businesses, and startups showed off their innovations and practices in the work place, home and school that help make the island more environmentally friendly.
Those who braved against the inclement weather learned that having a green, clean, healthy environment can be internal and external to the body, the household and beyond.

There were vendors telling of various herbs for body cleansing, pure drinks, holistic body therapy, aromatic applications in the home, non-toxic odourless paints, affordable solar light fixtures, and even architectural diagrams on conversion of used shipping containers into cool homes.
Though exhibitors and patrons ignored the weather, some items such as the expected Green Soap Box fell victim to the force of high winds that demolished the apparatus set up for persons to vent their feelings on getting Barbados green.
The Trust’s Coordinator, Dr Ariana Marshall said she was satisfied by the response from Barbadians and visitors to this novel fair and looks forward to engaging members of the public in other green exposure programmes.
