COURT TODAY BLOCKWhether cocaine gives him a good bowel movement or not, Stanton Alfred Savoy McClean was told yesterday to desist from using it.

The Lower Black Rock, St Michael man pleaded guilty to having a small amount of cocaine and apparatus fit for use in connection with the substance on November 29.

Sergeant Martin Rock told the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court that McClean’s sister was at home on Sunday and went to use the bathroom.

On reaching there, she smelt a strong odour coming from inside. When she pushed open the door, she saw her brother with a bottle up to his nose and holding a cigarette lighter under the bottle.

Out of concern, the woman called the police and told them of her 52-year-old sibling’s behaviour. Police came and found him with the items.

Accounting for having them, McClean told the officers it was “just a little meth he uses to ease his bowels”. His story remained the same when he addressed Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today.

“It boosts my appetite, it eases my bowels very good and it makes me feel very strong. Everybody system don’t work the same way – you understand what I mean? What work for me might not work for you; that is the truth,” McClean explained.

“You know what the truth is, Mr McClean?” asked the magistrate. “The truth is that it is an illegal substance.”

She then gave McClean, who is unemployed, a four-month suspended sentence for an equivalent time for having the cocaine and reprimanded and discharged him for the apparatus.
