On October 12 around 7 p.m., Wilbert Anthony Lynch went into Carlton supermarket in Black Rock, St Michael.
Security personnel kept the 46-year-old resident of Straker’s Tenantry Road, St Michael under observation and saw when he took a bottle of rum from a shelf and placed it under his shirt.
They also saw when Lynch took a second bottle, carried it to the cashier and paid for it. As he was about to leave, Lynch was stopped by security who found the concealed bottle of rum.
Lynch apologised to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court No. 2 yesterday. “I am very sorry for wasting your time, Ma’am,” he told Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant.
For the offence, Lynch was fined $500 payable in two months. The alternative is six months imprisonment.
