Twenty-nine residents of Bath, St John, today received legal title to the lands they’ve long occupied, as the Ministry of Housing, Lands and Maintenance continued its push to regularise tenantries across the island.
The conveyances were presented during a ceremony at the Victory Wesleyan Holiness Church, where Minister Dwight Sutherland confirmed that 111 of the 115 lots at Bath have now been processed.
“Land ownership is one of the most valuable assets a person can have. It gives people a sense of security and the ability to build and pass on wealth. We thank the residents for their patience over the years,” Sutherland said.
He shared that the remaining four conveyances will be issued within the next four weeks, following the resolution of minor surveying issues.
Member of Parliament Charles Griffiths who was also in attendance welcomed the move as a step in the right direction and one that represents years of answered prayers for many in the community.
