COURT TODAY BLOCKTwo St James men entered different pleas when they went before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court today charged with committing a number of offences against a policeman as he was executing his duties over the weekend.

Mario Richard Maynard, 24, of King’s Village, Holders Hill admitted to assaulting Constable Jamar Davis as well as resisting and using abusive language towards him on September 5.

Maynard, who reportedly told the lawman “I don’t give a [expletive] ‘bout you”, was placed on a bond to keep
the peace for six months and be of good behaviour.

Failure to do so will attract a forthwith fine of $1 500 which, if not paid, will result in two months’ imprisonment.

Co-accused Shamar Jamal Alfonzo Archer, 23, of the same address denied assaulting and obstructing Davis in the execution of his duties on the same date.

He was granted $6,000 bail and the case was adjourned until October 29.

According to police prosecutor Station Sergeant Peter Barrow, Maynard was attending an event at Kensington
Oval when he was seen at a bar arguing and cursing.

PC Davis spoke to him about his language, but he told the officer he could not stop him from cursing and continued doing so. When the lawman went over to him again, Maynard pushed his hand in the lawman’s face and pulled away as he was being arrested.
