Irritated because he had not been paid in full for a day’s work, Anthony Glenroy Hunte took the law into his hands.
Hunte was supposed to receive $70 for cutting a lawn among other chores. However, as a result of his actions which landed him before the courts, he will now have to reimburse the man whose window he broke with a stone, 10 times that amount.
When the 55-year-old mechanic/landscaper appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court today, he pleaded guilty to damaging a window valued $720 belonging to Keith Ward.
He was ordered to pay $700 in three months with an alternative of three months in prison. He was also placed on a bond to keep the peace for the next six months, or spend three months in prison.
“If you behave bad during that period, you will be conducting a course in jail on how to fix radiators,” Magistrate Frederick told the known offender.
As outlined by police prosecutor Station Sergeant Irvin Thompson, Hunte was given the job to cut Ward’s lawn on October 6, 2014, and charged him $70.
However, after completing the job, Hunte went to Ward’s residence seeking the remainder of his money as he had only received $30.
He was told to return the next morning but he became enraged and threw a stone which broke the window of the side door.
The matter was reported to police and investigations were carried out. Hunte was later arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
