COURT TODAY BLOCKA St Michael man who tried to solicit sex from a young woman through text messages, has been placed on a six-month bond to keep the peace.

Earl Peterson Maynard, 41, of George Street, St Michael pleaded guilty to harassing the 22-year-old female without lawful authority or excuse, when he appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court.

Magistrate Douglas Frederick placed the first-time offender on a six-month bond. If breached, he will have to pay a fine of $1,500 forthwith or spend one month in prison.

“You are a big man and you must learn to be more cautious. You now have to be even more cautious for the next six months,” Magistrate Frederick told Maynard.

As outlined by police prosecutor Station Sergeant Irvin Kellman, Maynard made several calls and sent several text messages to the complainant in an attempt to solicit sexual favours for a fee.

Kellman said Maynard made inquiries about the woman’s underwear and sexual organ.

Despite asking Maynard repeatedly to stop, he refused. The young lady therefore made a complaint to the police who launched an investigation that led to Maynard’s arrest.

However, the general worker told the court that he had met the woman, exchanged numbers and she had agreed to have sex with him in exchange for money.

Maynard said she had originally asked for $200 but after he told her that he only had $50, she “said ok.”

He pointed out that after reaching home later that evening, he saw police outside of his home and he was arrested.
