The Barbados men’s national basketball team left the island early this morning for Tortola to take part in the Caribbean Basketball Confederation’s Championships.
The ten-member team, along with head coach Nigel Lloyd and his assistant Derek Browne, were in high spirits before departing from the Grantley Adams International Airport.
They will be hoping to improve on their sixth placed finish at the last games, despite missing arguably the island’s best player in point-guard Andre Lockhart.
Meanwhile the Bajan women finished a commendable fourth in the competition, after losing out to the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) in their bronze medal contest.
After going under to the Bahamas 57-53 in the semifinals, the Bajan lasses were totally outplayed by the USVI, losing 90-47.
