Two brothers entered the District ‘A’ dock today, one after the other.
The case against Kelvin Anthony Tison, of Rock Gap, Spooners Hill, St Michael was called first.
He pleaded guilty before Magistrate Douglas Frederick to having eight grams of marijuana on June 3.
While police were executing a search warrant at Tison’s home, a strong scent of marijuana was in the house, the prosecutor said. The small quantity was found later.
Acting Station Sergeant Neville Watson also referred to Tison’s previous convictions, three of which were drug offences.
Mohia Ma’at, attorney for both brothers, told the court that his client Kelvin Tison was a former general worker who had been laid off since last December.
He also asked the court to consider both Tison’s financial status in relation to the economy and his early guilty plea.
Magistrate Douglas Frederick felt that since the economy is as it is, then Tison “should be able to conserve his money by not using drugs.”
However, Tison explained that someone gave him the marijuana.
“So that person is trying to kill you then . . . You think the person who gave you it would come and pay a fine for you if you had to get a fine?”
Tison was thereafter fined $750 forthwith, with an alternative of three months in prison. The fine was paid.
Entering the dock immediately after, his brother Corey Sherrad Tison of the same address, denied unlawfully and maliciously wounding Vivian Alleyne on May 20.
The vendor was granted $3 000 bail and told to keep away from the complainant. His case was adjourned until August 27.
