Yet another group has voiced its concern over the level of domestic violence following the death of Caroline Forde last week.
This time, the St. Philip North Constituency Council will be holding a candle light vigil entitled Enough is Enough, on Friday, August 30 at Bushy Park, St. Philip at 7 p.m.
Forde’s death shocked the island last week after she was attacked in the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex and later succumbed to stab wounds she received during the incident.
A procession will be led by the clergy of the Spiritual Baptist Church and other clerics from churches throughout the parish, and musical presentations by some of the country’s top entertainers will form part of the vigil.
St. Philip North MP and Minister of Transport and Works, Michael Lashley and St. Philip South MP and Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite, are expected to attend.
Representatives of other organisations who have voiced their concern over the level of domestic violence will also participate in the candle light vigil. The organisers of the candle light stressed that their aim was to sensitise the public to the scourge of domestic violence and ensure that the anti- domestic violence legislation was speedily enacted.
