The night belonged to Pinelands B and Senators as they won their respective matches in the 2022 Co-operators General Insurance Barbados Amateur Basketball Association Club Challenge played last night at Clapham, St. Michael.
It was a physical encounter between the two teams with young energetic players who hustled and played at a high intensity on both ends of the court. However, it was Pinelands B that prevailed, defeating Church Village Spartans A 68-59 (16-12, 29-30, 46-41) during the exciting clash.
That was the opening match of the night and while Spartans captain Theo Greenidge led the attack with a game-high 22 points and Ja-Rad Grant accounted for the next best figures of 12 points, it was not enough to save them against Pinelands B.
Nathaniel Sealy with 20 points inclusive of two three pointers and Jahmai White with 13 points, were the leading players on offence for the Pine-based men.
In the second and final encounter of the night, Senators scraped home by eight points beating Burger King Clapham Bulls 59-51 after trailing in the first three quarters (22-10, 35-28 and 42-41).
The top scorers for Senators were Kyhia Dyall with 25 points, Rasheed Harte tallied 15 and Brian Yarde netted 13, as they dominated the paint. Justin Bayley was the lone person in double digits for Clapham Bulls with 15 points.
