Roberts-Reifer said in the second round, voters will again be allowed one vote per device as was done in the first instance beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, July 16 until midnight on July 20.
“These 40 artistes will each walk away with $2 000, and then at the end of the second round of voting the top 20 will get an additional $1 000 and then that top 20 will also get $4 000 as a performance fee at the Soca Ructions, plus their production costs,” she said.
The CEO explained that the People’s Choice Competition, which replaces Soca Monarch, has been designed to allow as many artistes as possible to get a lucrative payday as opposed to one artiste walking away with a car and a large amount of cash.
Chief Executive Officer of Pyramid Entertainment Inc Ruel Ward, President of the Barbados Entertainers’ Association (BEA) Rudy Maloney, and Public Relations Officer of the Creatives and Artistes Barry Knight joined Roberts-Reifer for the announcement of the results which she received from an external provider just before the start of the press conference.
