The Barbados Association of Journalists and Media Workers (BARJAM) has expressed its sadness at the recent passing of veteran journalist, Patrick Ward, saying he will be missed.

Ward died on March 28 at the age of 64.

BARJAM president Keith Goddard said in a statement that Ward, referred to as Wardy by most of his colleagues, had a lengthy career in journalism that included jobs at the Nation Publishing, The Barbados Advocate, and Barbados Rediffusion Limited which later became Starcom Network.

Ward was known for his coverage of court and Parliament but was capable of covering any beat, including sports, he added.

“Those who worked with Patrick at Starcom Network remembered him as a very jovial, caring, and helpful individual who always found time to assist his colleagues and one who could always be expected to crack a joke with you. Wardy will be missed very much by all those who came into contact with him,” Goddard said.

BARJAM expressed condolences to Ward’s children, Stefan and Shalimar, his sister Joyce and the rest of his immediate family and close friends.
