Connectivity in Barbados has received a significant boost with the introduction of five new mobile sites in St Peter, St James, St Michael, and Christ Church.

As part of a significant investment to further deploy LTE connectivity across the island, leading telecoms provider Flow recently brought online new sites at Mile-and-a- Quarter, Boscobelle, Fitts Village, Cave Hill and Oistins.

“We are proud to operate the fastest, strongest and most expansive mobile network in Barbados and our continued investment in its capacity is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to ensuring Barbadians remain connected to the things that matter most, especially when on the go,” said Desron Bynoe, Country Manager, Flow Barbados.

“Mobile devices and related connectivity continue to be more and more embedded in the fabric of our society, and the presence of these additional sites will provide greater coverage and overall reliability for users.”

Flow was the first local operator to launch an islandwide LTE network in 2017, and three months ago, the company also announced that it is now delivering fixed services (internet, landline, and television) to all customers exclusively via its state-of-the-art fibre network, thereby becoming the first market for parent company C&W Communications to be operating a wholly fibre-optic network.

“Barbados has significant mobile penetration, with several people owning more than one mobile device. This is a clear indication of people wanting to stay connected and our LTE network will continue to facilitate that connectivity at superfast speeds,” added Bynoe.

Oneil Greene, Manager, Construction, Flow Barbados, said there were additional mobile sites earmarked for 2022.

“While we enjoy excellent island-wide mobile connectivity overall, there are still a handful of areas where the signal is not as strong as we would like it to be, so we will continue to identify those locations and provide solutions for the people who live, work or travel through those particular zones on a frequent basis,” he said.

“These investments in additional mobile sites will further enhance our connected environment and allow for the expansion of the business sector, greater opportunities for individuals and tangible returns for all Barbadians.”
