The Mia Mottley administration has the wrong approach to dealing with COVID-19, DLP’s spokesperson for health, water and sanitation Andre Worrell said Sunday.
Worrell, who is also DLP Vice President, said consultation on major decisions in the treatment and management of COVID needs to happen with BAMP, the Barbados Nurses Association (BNA) and other stakeholders before and not after rolling out poorly constructed policies.
“As a result of Mottley’s stubbornness and misguidedness in treating COVID with economic policies, we are grappling with a long list of dire problems,” Worrell said in a statement.
“How can you properly treat a medical problem such as COVID if you do not listen to the health care professionals?”
Worrell also pointed to “mixed signals emanating from the Government” as one of the reasons for difficulty controlling the spread of COVID-19.
“On the one hand, the government urges the people to take the advice of health-care professionals while ignoring advice offered to them by BAMP and other health-care professionals,” he said.
Worrell said the Mia Mottley administration needs to go back to the drawing board with the way COVID is being managed in the country.
