A woman has been taken into police custody in connection with a viral video that appears to show a child being roughly handled, a police spokesman confirmed Monday.
Acting Public Relations Officer, Sargeant Michael Blackman said the woman is assisting detectives with their investigations.
In the video, the neck of the infant is being gripped by a woman who claims she was forced to do so.
The female declared: “You coulda care ‘bout she? This is what you father do. This is what you father do. I ain’t give a [expletive] ….who you show this to. This is when you push people to the point of no returning.”
On Sunday, Police condemned the video, saying the force “vehemently abhors any act of child abuse and urged Barbadians to take a stand against the scourge.
“As citizens of Barbados we all have an obligation to report all instances of child abuse,” the statement said.
Police are also seeking information from anyone who can assist with the ongoing investigation to contact them at 211 or 430-7189.
The Child Care Board (CCB) is also investigating the matter. (EJ)
