The Barbados Meteorological Service is closely monitoring a tropical wave and an associated area of low pressure located near 37W south of 17N. This is about 2460 km (1530 miles) east of Barbados at 11 am.
Activity associated with this feature has become less organized over the past 6 hours. However, conditions are expected to become more favorable for development during the next few days as the system moves westward to west-northwestward.
Current model guidance indicates that the system will pass well north of Barbados sometime early next week. Therefore, this system does not pose any direct threat to the island. The public is asked to continue to monitor updates issued by the BMS on this feature.
The next update will be at 11 am, Friday 17th September or sooner if conditions warrant.
