todays courtMagistrate Graveney Bannister remanded a man who turned up at court today, a year after he failed to show for his case.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Jerrimy Jamar Allister, of Lower Carlton, St James, after his non-appearance at court, but he turned up at the District “A” Court on his own today.

Allister explained that he had been to court on several occasions on charges of assaulting two policemen in the execution of their duties in July 2009.

However, he said, the last time he attended court his name was not on the list for that day and a member of the court staff took his name and telephone number and promised they would contact him, but that never happened.

That was a year ago.

In pleading with Magistrate Bannister to allow his client to continue on bail, attorney-at-law Dennis Headley reminded that the matter was an old one and his client had been attending court conscientiously, prior to the last occasion.

The lawyer added that Allister had presented himself to the court as soon as he heard that there was a warrant out for him.

He also told the court that Allister had started a job yesterday.

However, Bannister remanded the young man until February 23.
