“The concept of too much freeness does not build independence, but contributes to the accumulation of public debt.”
Grey “Pizza Man Doc” Brome expressed this view today, ahead of tomorrow’s Budget presentation by Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Chris Sinckler.
“I would like to see some of the “freeness” removed in this day and age. Someone has to pay for it in the end. We, the taxpayers, cannot continue to carry this load for young people who have no respect for any person or anything made available to them,” Brome argued.
Commenting on the state of small businesses in the present economic climate, Brome said: “I, as a small businessman who is struggling like the average Barbadian, would like to be given the opportunity to breathe again. Small businessmen should be given concessions on imports because the main problem starts at the ports of entry.”
