Grazettes Primary School is fit for students again, the Ministry of Education disclosed today.

Students will therefore be heading back to their usual classrooms when the new school term starts next week.

Deputy Chief Education Officer Karen Best said in a statement this evening that the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation had received the necessary clearance from the Health and Safety Section of the Ministry of Labour.

Students were relocated last October to the Ebenezer and Breath of Life Seventh-Day Adventist churches, soon after the start of the new school year, after an environmental problem forced the school to close on a number of occasions.

“The Ministry of Labour has informed us that there is no evidence of odour and the school may be re-occupied,” Best said.

When a Barbados TODAY team visited the school this morning, furniture and other supplies were being delivered to the Grazettes, St Michael school and classrooms were being prepared for the arrival of teachers next Monday and students the following day.

When the junior students were sent to the Ebenezer Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Eden Lodge, St Michael and the older students to the Breath of Life Seventh-Day Adventist Church in White Hall, St Michael, they were initially told they would be there for three weeks.

However, the ministry subsequently indicated they would remain there for the rest of the term.
