The Mia Mottley-led administration has given appointed public officers until next Wednesday to accept or reject an offer of voluntary separation packages as part of its efforts to modernize the service.
According to a memorandum from acting Head of the Civil Service Cecile Humphrey dated November 21, 2018 and addressed to all Permanent Secretaries and officers of related grades, the terms and conditions of the packages include one month’s pay in lieu of notice and remuneration for any vacation entitlement.

Officers who accept the packages will also be paid any outstanding arrears of salary for the period April 1, 2018 to July 31, 2018 resulting from the pay hike that took effect on April 1.
Humphrey also said that payment of gratuity and pension would be made on the same terms as those applicable at the age of voluntary retirement.
“Please note that applications will be considered taking into account the exigencies of the Public Service. This memorandum should be brought to the immediate attention of officers in your Ministry/Department,” the Civil Service head told permanent secretaries.
